Textile Industry Shows Resilience as Ministry of Industry Offers UPP Services at Industrialization Showcase

The textile and textile product (TPT) industry sector was the main highlight of the Exhibition of Leading Industrial Programs in the First Year of the Prabowo–Gibran Government, held by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) at Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta. Through this event, Kemenperin showcased the achievements of the textile subsector, which has shown resilience amid global challenges, while also offering on-the-spot public services from the Licensing Service Unit (UPP) for businesses and the public.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the textile subsector is one of the important pillars of the national manufacturing structure because it plays a major role in exports, employment and strengthening industrial supply chains.

“Kemenperin continues to pay attention to labor-intensive industrial sectors, including textiles and apparel. Through machinery restructuring, improved production efficiency and easier industrial services, we want to ensure this sector remains competitive globally,” Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in Jakarta on Saturday (8/11).

According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data for Q3 2025, the textile and apparel industry grew by 0.93% (YoY). The sector remains strategic because it involves millions of workers and supports downstream industrial chains.

To maintain resilience and production efficiency, Kemenperin has carried out an industrial machinery and equipment restructuring program involving 49 textile companies, with replacement value reaching IDR 65.1 billion and driving additional investment of up to IDR 690.9 billion. The program has proven to increase productivity and energy efficiency in the TPT sector.

“Revitalizing machinery and equipment is a concrete step so that our textile industry does not fall behind competing countries. The government has also opened access to financing through Labor-Intensive Industry Credit (KIPK) to support increased production capacity,” he explained.

These efforts to increase competitiveness are accompanied by easier industrial services: Kemenperin opened UPP On the Spot services throughout the exhibition. The service provides consultation and direct processing of various industrial licensing facilities, such as TKDN certification, SMI partnerships and SNI registration.

“Kemenperin wants to ensure that industrial services are easily accessible, transparent and responsive to the needs of businesses. This is a concrete form of a bureaucracy that serves,” the Minister of Industry stressed.

Besides the textile subsector, today's showcase also featured a range of leading products from the cosmetics, basic metals, and food and beverage industries. The event was also a forum for public interaction, showing that national industrial products have become part of people's everyday lives.

“We want people to see for themselves that the products they use every day are the work of national industry. This is part of efforts to build pride in products made in Indonesia,” the Minister of Industry concluded.
