According to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's Outlook Trend Report, foreign tourists increasingly favor cultural and educational tourism involving hands-on experience. This is reflected in the growing interest in the Textile Technology Tour program at BBSPJI Tekstil Bandung.
Its strategic location in West Java, a center of the textile and textile products industry with historical significance since it was built in 1922, together with the efficiency of an integrated tour offering experience and education from upstream to downstream industry, makes the program popular.
This time, the overseas visitors came from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. It was the second batch, following a visit in 2023. Thirty Bachelor's and Master's fashion students took a study tour to BBSPJI Tekstil, including benchmarking at the Islamic Fashion Institute design incubator in the same complex. All participants enthusiastically tried non-machine handlooms with an electronic dobby system, in line with the program's original aim of offering a touch of cultural heritage and sharing experiences. Now everyone can weave. (gprbbt)
