The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) actively encourages the use and innovation of technology to boost manufacturing competitiveness, including through the 2022 Industrial Technology Pioneer (RINTEK) awards.
“The RINTEK 2022 awards are expected to motivate national industry players to develop competitiveness through high-value industrial technology research, development and engineering,” Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in a statement on Monday (30/5).
According to Agus, independently creating and using new industrial technology is a concrete implementation of priority programs in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, whose great aspiration is to make Indonesia one of the world's 10 largest economies by 2030.
“Using technology is expected to produce domestic products with high added value, so they can be masters in their own country and competitive internationally,” the Minister said.
The Head of the Agency for Industrial Standardization and Services Policy (BSKJI) at Kemenperin, Doddy Rahadi, added that RINTEK is the Government's recognition of industries that have produced outstanding engineering, inventions and/or technological innovations in developing their business processes. “Innovations by industry players are expected to play a major role in increasing the productivity and self-reliance of domestic industry,” he said.
Doddy said RINTEK 2022 is a biennial event held since 2012, previously held annually since 2006. To date, RINTEK awards have been given to 64 companies for 89 industrial technology innovations.
Award-winning technology pioneering areas include creating and developing new products, improving production system efficiency and productivity, minimizing human error and improving production ergonomics, energy and water conservation, saving raw materials, creating environmentally friendly technology, and waste management and emission reduction.
These technology pioneering efforts come from various industrial subsectors, including food and beverages, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, medical devices, machinery, electronics, textiles, transport equipment and industrial pollution prevention technology.
“The award process involves rigorous selection with experts from associations, industry, academia and government with competence in industrial technology. Through this rigorous and professional selection, each RINTEK period has produced the best innovating industrial companies,” Doddy said.
Doddy said companies interested in the 2022 RINTEK selection can register online via bit.ly/rintek2022 no later than 31 May 2022. For more information on registration procedures for the RINTEK 2022 Awards, visit www.kemenperin.go.id or Kemenperin's official social media accounts.
Industrial companies entering the 2022 RINTEK Award selection must meet several requirements, including being a manufacturing or industrial services company domiciled and incorporated in Indonesia. The proposed technology must be the result of the company's own research, either as a prototype or proven through successful implementation, and must not have received a similar award in a previous period.
“RINTEK 2022 award recipients gain many benefits, including official government recognition of their technological achievements and greater popularity and a positive, credible image for the company's technology,” Doddy concluded.
