Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stressed that displaying the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) mark or logo on products is not mandatory, but optional. This is regulated in Regulation of the Minister of Industry (Permenperin) Number 35 of 2025 on the Provisions and Procedures for TKDN Certification and Company Benefit Weight.
“Businesses that hold a TKDN Certificate or TKDN Statement Letter may indeed place the TKDN mark on their products. However, it is not an obligation. We leave the display of this logo entirely to industry as a form of flexibility,” Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in Jakarta on Friday (12/9).
According to the Minister of Industry, the reason displaying the TKDN logo is not mandatory is to maintain efficiency and give industry players flexibility. Some companies prefer to highlight their main product branding without additional logos, while others use the TKDN logo as a selling point for consumers.
“The point is, we give industry room to determine their marketing strategies. For those who want to show pride in using domestic components, the TKDN logo can be added. But those who don't are still valid, because the product's TKDN value is already recorded in the official certificate of the Ministry of Industry,” Agus explained.
Agus added that although the logo is optional, the TKDN value must still be stated transparently in the TKDN Certificate or TKDN Statement Letter. The value will also be included in the inventory list of domestically produced goods/services on the Ministry of Industry's official website.
“In this way, the government, businesses and the public can clearly see how much local content a product has. So data transparency is maintained, even if the physical logo is not always displayed on products,” the Minister of Industry said.
Agus stressed that the TKDN logo is expected to be one of the means of educating the public on the importance of supporting domestic products. However, the government does not want to burden industry with rigid rules.
“This flexibility is a form of our support for the business climate. Most importantly, TKDN certification runs in a transparent, credible and accountable way,” he concluded.
