The Ministry of Industry continues to spur the competitiveness of the textile and textile products (TPT) industry so it can make a significant contribution to the national economy. In Q1-2023, the textile and apparel industries contributed 6 percent of non-oil and gas manufacturing growth.
“The TPT industry is one of the sectors prioritized for development under the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. Strategic efforts are therefore needed to develop it, including by improving the competence of its workforce,” said the Head of the Agency for Industrial Human Resource Development (BPSDMI) at Kemenperin, Masrokhan, in Jakarta on Monday (15/5).
The Head of BPSDMI explained that preparing competent industrial human resources requires strong competency infrastructure, including Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), Professional Certification Bodies (LSP), Competency Assessors and Competency Test Sites (TUK). “Competent human resources are an important component in driving a productive, innovative and competitive industry,” he said.
To achieve this, BPSDMI consistently runs the Competency Infrastructure Development program needed by industry through Assessor Training. “Some time ago, we held this activity in Solo to support TPT industry performance,” said the Head of the Industrial HR Education and Training Center, Arnes Lukman.
The Assessor Training, focused on textile and textile product schemes, was held in cooperation with LSP P3 Garmindo Plus, LSP P3 Mode Indonesia, LSP P3 Tenun Indonesia, LSP P3 Batik, LSP P1 BDI Yogyakarta, LSP P1 Politeknik ATK Yogyakarta and LSP P1 AK-Tekstil Solo. “BPSDMI has coordinated with BNSP and received BNSP approval for the 2nd Batch of Competency Assessor Training in 2023,” Arnes continued.
During the training, participants are equipped with methodological competence in planning assessment activities and processes, conducting assessments and contributing to assessment validation. Afterwards, participants take a Prospective Assessor Assessment to test their eligibility for recommendation as competency assessors.
“Through this competency testing, Kemenperin can produce reliable assessors for competency testing, so the quality of human resources in the textile and textile products industry keeps improving,” Arnes said.
Earlier, Kemenperin's BPSDMI also held the 1st Batch of Competency Assessor Training in 2023, focused on the metal and machinery industries, on 20–23 February 2023 in Surabaya. “We hope this activity can empower competency assessors according to their schemes on a larger scale,” Arnes concluded.
